Family dentistry helps patients maintain their teeth and gums. As the primary oral health care provider, the dentist manages the patient’s overall oral health care. During the general dentistry appointment, the dentist examines the teeth and may take x-rays to identify any problems with the teeth. Family dentistry also includes routine cleanings to help remove plaque build-up from the teeth that may be missed by proper brushing and flossing.
